Survey Finds Just 23% of Americans Very Comfortable Discussing Israel Conflict

FIRE's August National Speech Index found that 23% of Americans were very comfortable sharing views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without fear of reprimand. Another 31% were somewhat comfortable, while 31% were not very comfortable and 14% were not comfortable at all. The survey questioned 1,000 Americans from July 7 to July 20 and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. FIRE polling manager Nathan Honeycutt said open discussion of key debates should be comfortable for everyone, but the results show most Americans do not feel that way.
