Former Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg Joins Makom Lekulanu

Former Knesset speaker Avraham “Avrum” Burg announced Saturday that he is joining Makom Lekulanu and will run for the Knesset. Burg, 71, previously served as an MK, speaker of the 15th Knesset and chairman of the Jewish Agency. The Jewish-Arab party was founded in June 2026 and is led by Rula Daood and Alon-Lee Green. Reports differed on procedure: several said Burg or the party had announced the move, while one said the party was expected to convene Saturday evening to approve and formally announce his accession.
