Six Thai Workers Wounded by Unexploded Munition in Metula Orchards, Two Serious

Six Thai agricultural workers were wounded, two of them seriously, when an old unexploded munition detonated in nectarine orchards beside Metula in the Galilee panhandle on Tuesday morning. The Metula Local Council said the item was a dud that had never been located or neutralized, and that there was no concern of a security incident. A tactical medical team treated the casualties at the scene, and the most severely wounded were flown to hospital by helicopter. Police sappers swept the area and Israel Police opened an investigation into the circumstances. The force asked the public not to touch shrapnel or interceptor fragments left in northern fields by the fighting.
