Reservist Tamir Vaknin Laid to Rest in Eilat After Lebanon Blast

Sgt. Maj. (res.) Tamir Vaknin, 33, was buried Thursday evening in the military section of the Eilat cemetery, a day after an explosive device killed him during operations in southern Lebanon. Vaknin fought with Battalion 2855 of the 55th Spearhead Brigade and is survived by his parents and two brothers. His father, Shimon, wept while reciting the mourning prayer, saying he did not want to say kaddish for his son and asking how he was burying him instead of walking beside him at his wedding. Mayor Eli Lankri called Vaknin one of the finest sons of the city.
