Netanyahu Petitions Likud Court to Expel Airport Union Chief Pinhas Idan

Prime Minister and Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu formally petitioned Likud’s supreme court to terminate Pinhas Idan’s party membership over Thursday’s disruption at Ben Gurion Airport. The filing calls the stoppage a political and unlawful strike intended to harm Transportation Minister Miri Regev, Netanyahu and Likud; Idan denies organizing a strike and attributes the disruption to staff shortages and exhausted workers. Netanyahu argues that Idan breached the undertaking that spared him expulsion after the March 2023 airport strike. The petition asks the party court not to issue another warning and instead to enforce Likud’s constitution by removing Idan.
