DR Congo's Ebola outbreak has spread to Biena and Manguredjipa in North Kivu, bringing the number of affected health zones to 60. The latest government figures cited Friday record 5,794 confirmed cases and 2,786 deaths, an overall case-fatality rate of about 48%. The fatality rate in the two newly affected zones is higher, partly because response efforts were delayed. The new toll is 144 deaths above the 2,642 reported earlier this week and marks a further geographic expansion of the country's deadliest Ebola outbreak.
