Israel’s 60-Day Radio and TV Election-Propaganda Restriction Takes Effect

Israel’s statutory 60-day restriction on election propaganda in radio and television took effect Friday, ahead of the October 27 vote. Section 5 of the Elections (Methods of Propaganda) Law bars such broadcasts during the period, while preserving the specifically allocated party broadcasts set by law. Those party broadcasts are scheduled to begin October 13, 14 days before voting. Each list receives seven television minutes and 15 radio minutes, with additional time based on its representation in the outgoing Knesset.
