Sohlberg Orders Shas to Remove Campaign Video Featuring IDF Soldier

Central Elections Committee chair Justice Noam Sohlberg issued an interim order requiring Shas and Aryeh Deri to remove a campaign video from all their social-media accounts and stop distributing it. The video shows a religious IDF soldier returning home for Friday-night Kiddush and thanking his kollel-student brother for studying Torah. Yashar petitioned over the use of a soldier and uniform in election propaganda and the display of Shas’s ballot letters before the permitted 42-day period. Shas and Deri must respond by noon on August 25, after which Sohlberg is expected to rule further.
