Election Committee Orders Smotrich to Remove Misleading AI Campaign Video

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Justice Noam Sohlberg at the bench receiving a document with an Israeli flag behind him

Central Elections Committee chair Justice Noam Sohlberg ordered Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and the Religious Zionism party to remove an AI-assisted campaign video from their social-media accounts. The video portrayed Yashar leader Gadi Eisenkot alongside Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Ra'am leader Mansour Abbas, a scene the ruling said never occurred but appeared realistic. Sohlberg found the disclosure beside the video was not sufficiently visible to prevent voters from being misled. He awarded NIS 5,000 in costs to each of the two petitioners.
