Trump Says Iran Is Begging for a Deal After Criticizing Fox Report

President Donald Trump said he does not want to meet Iranian officials and claimed Tehran is ‘begging to make a deal,’ while criticizing a Fox News report about U.S.-Iran contacts. Twelve minutes later, Trump wrote that Iran is a ‘failing nation.’ In the report, correspondent Jonathan Hunt said there had been ‘no significant developments’ and played Trump’s earlier statement that no talks were underway. Fox anchor Bret Baier later said the network had not reported that Trump wanted a meeting. Trump’s posts asserted that Tehran sought negotiations; none of the verified reports independently established that Iran had requested a deal.
