U.S. and E3 Push IAEA Referral of Iran to U.N. Security Council, Diplomats Say

U.S., British, French and German diplomats are pressing the IAEA’s 35-member board to pass a resolution next week reporting Iran to the U.N. Security Council, according to diplomats briefed on the effort. Negotiators have not yet formally submitted a draft and are still discussing its wording. Iran has denied inspectors access to nuclear sites bombed by Israel and the United States and has not allowed verification of enriched-uranium stocks, some enriched to 60%. The IAEA believes more than 200 kilograms of that material survived the strikes at Isfahan and Natanz, while Iran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful.
