Fighting in Yemen killed 129 people over two days as Houthi forces advanced near Taiz and the Red Sea coast toward routes overlooking Bab el-Mandeb, according to medical and military sources. The toll comprised 66 government troops and allied fighters, at least 62 Houthi fighters and one civilian. Government forces sent reinforcements from Aden, while the Houthis seized high ground overlooking supply routes between Taiz and Mokha. President Rashad al-Alimi’s office said hundreds of families were displaced and ordered forces to protect civilians, support evacuations and prevent Houthi control of the strategic strait.
