Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a nighttime Lebanese cityscape with orange fireballs and tall columns of dark smoke rising among dense apartment buildings, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

IDF troops intercepted a Hezbollah drone launched toward soldiers in the security zone in southern Lebanon on Friday evening. The military said soldiers opened fire on the aircraft and brought it down, with no Israeli troops injured. The IDF then began striking targets in southern Lebanon in response to the launch. It described Hezbollah’s action as a blatant violation and said forces would continue operating in the security zone to remove threats to Israeli civilians and troops. The statement did not identify the struck targets or a more specific location.
