Israel Orders UK Consulate Closure, Ends British Gaza and PA Roles

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced four measures after consulting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in response to Britain’s settlement-trade sanctions and tighter arms restrictions. Israel will close the British Consulate in Jerusalem, remove British representatives from the International Gaza Support Center in Kiryat Gat, and end the British Support Team’s training of Palestinian Authority security forces in Ramallah. Israel will also deny entry to 12 British elected officials and other nationals accused of antisemitic or anti-Israel activity or denying Israel’s existence. Sa’ar said unified Jerusalem is Israel’s capital and foreign activity there requires Israeli consent.
