U.S. Sanctions 36 Targets Supporting Iran’s Aviation Sector

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned 36 targets supporting Iran’s aviation sector, including 27 Iranian airlines, five people or entities tied to an aircraft-procurement network, and four cargo-service or general-sales agents. Treasury said Iran uses aviation networks to move weapons, personnel and illicit cargo for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and allied terrorist groups. It said at least three Boeing 777 aircraft were transferred to Mahan Air in summer 2026 through the United Arab Emirates and Oman using companies based in the UAE and Türkiye. OFAC also suspended three Iran-related aviation authorizations, while FinCEN issued an alert on procurement networks.
