Eight Countries Back UK Settlement Sanctions and Urge Wider Action

Foreign ministers from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan welcomed Britain’s settlement-trade sanctions and urged other governments to adopt similar measures. Their joint statement called for accountability for organizations and individuals involved in settlements, backed national and European trade restrictions, and repeated support for a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. In Israel’s response to the underlying British measures, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said measures against Israel would not go unanswered, placing the coordinated endorsement within a widening diplomatic dispute over policy in Judea and Samaria.
