Activists Petition High Court to Bar Yoram Cohen From Knesset Election

Activists from Justice for Amiram petitioned Israel's High Court on Wednesday to bar former Shin Bet chief Yoram Cohen from running for the Knesset on Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar list. Lawyer Rehavia Piltz filed the petition after Central Elections Committee chair Justice Noam Sohlberg dismissed the activists' earlier request because it lacked signatures from one third of committee members. The petitioners argue that the signature requirement should not prevent a hearing on their allegations about interrogation methods used while Cohen led the Shin Bet during the Duma arson investigation. Those allegations are the petitioners' claims, and the new filing asks the court to review the committee decision.
