Jordanian Foreign Minister Calls for Wider Measures Against Israeli Settlements

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi urged wider international measures against Israeli settlement expansion at a New York meeting marking one year since the New York Declaration. He said support for a two-state solution should be translated into action and accused Israeli policy of undermining prospects for peace. The meeting included representatives of 29 countries and the European Union. In a 2023 written submission to the International Court of Justice, Israel argued that settlements, borders and security arrangements are permanent-status questions for direct negotiations between the parties.
