Britain Warns E1 Bidders of Sanctions Risk as Tender Deadline Arrives

Britain's Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband urged businesses and individuals on October 19 not to bid for construction in E1, identifying that day as the tender deadline. He warned that new British powers allow sanctions against individuals and companies involved in settlement construction, and said bidders face legal and reputational risks. Miliband described the Israeli government's E1 tender as a threat to a two-state solution. He also reiterated Britain's commitment to legislation banning imports of settlement goods and action against services that finance or facilitate them.
