Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu has asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring a proposal applying Israeli law, jurisdiction and administration to Solomon’s Pools to the next cabinet meeting. His request follows an official Palestinian Authority event that presented the site as Palestinian national property. Eliyahu described the event as an attempt to appropriate Jewish heritage and said the pools formed part of the historic water system supplying Jerusalem and the Temple. The Heritage Ministry had previously announced NIS 10 million for preservation, but Eliyahu now says preservation alone is insufficient.
