Health and Environment Ministries Warn Against Entering Nine Northern Stream Sites

Israel's Health and Environmental Protection ministries warned on October 6 that entering nine northern stream sites could be dangerous until water-test results become normal and stable. Samples taken October 4–5 exceeded their recommended limit of 400 fecal-coliform bacteria per 100 ml. The warning covers specified stretches or pools of Banias, Hasbani, the Jordan, Hexagon Pool, Jilabun, Zaki, Yehudiya, Tzalmon and Kziv. The Environmental Protection Ministry said it had not identified a known pollution source. Both ministries said sampling and monitoring would continue; routine sampling is conducted every two weeks by Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors.
