The Central District Court in Lod sentenced Jason Oudeh to life imprisonment on October 7 for the aggravated murder of Yelena Greenberg, who was 27 when she was killed in Rehovot in 2022. The court also ordered him to pay her family NIS 258,000 in compensation, the maximum amount reported in the ruling. The judges found that Oudeh killed Greenberg after she declined a romantic relationship; the two had been friends for about four years. Prosecutors described the killing as premeditated and said life imprisonment was the mandatory penalty.
