Military Prosecutors Reportedly Weigh Capital Charge in Shakron Murder Case

Military prosecutors are reportedly examining whether to indict the Hamas operative accused of murdering Netanel Shakron under the new death-penalty law. Government figures are said to be pressing the chief military prosecutor to pursue that charge, which could lead to a death sentence. Shakron, 48, a father of six from Alei Zahav, was killed on September 20 at Ein Raya spring near Neve Tzuf, where he had gone with his eldest son to immerse before Yom Kippur. The attacker was later captured by Duvdevan soldiers at a Ramallah hospital.
