Danon Challenges U.N. Children-and-Conflict Official Over Hamas Recruitment Reporting

Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Danny Danon, criticized Vanessa Frazier, the secretary-general’s special representative for children and armed conflict, in a statement published on October 13. Danon accused her of failing to give Hamas’s recruitment of children the attention it deserves in her reports. He questioned how she accounts for the treatment of Hamas’s crimes and how she expects those reports to be taken seriously. His statement challenges the U.N. official’s reporting on the issue; the accusation of an omission is Danon’s, rather than a finding established by the statement itself.
