Israeli Ambassador Says Alkmaar Mayor Rejected Access for 150 Hapoel Be’er Sheva Fans

Israel’s ambassador to the Netherlands, Zvi Aviner Vapni, said on Wednesday that Alkmaar Mayor Anja Schouten refused to consider allowing 150 Hapoel Be’er Sheva supporters to attend a football match in her city. He said the refusal came during a conversation with him. Vapni contrasted the mayor’s position on the Israeli supporters with what he described as her use of municipal powers to facilitate anti-Israel demonstrations. His public statement disclosed the specific number of supporters discussed in their exchange.
