Health Ministry Sets Specialist-Doctor Targets by Field and Region for 2035

The Health Ministry published its first long-term targets on Thursday for the number of specialist doctors Israel should have in each medical field and geographic region by 2035. The plan projects more than 11,000 additional specialists over the coming decade and seeks to bring regions toward equal numbers of specialists per resident. Different specialties would receive different increases, reflecting projected needs and the doctors already moving through training. The figures are workforce-planning targets, rather than doctors already recruited, and outline how future specialist capacity would be distributed across the country.
