Israel’s September Mortgage Lending Falls About 20% to NIS 8.66 Billion

Newly released Bank of Israel figures put Israeli housing mortgage lending in September at NIS 8.66 billion, about 20% below August. The Mortgage Advisers Association attributed the monthly decline to the Tishrei holidays and fewer working days, saying daily lending activity remained stronger than the headline total suggested. Housing mortgage lending in January through September reached NIS 88.3 billion, around 12% above the corresponding period of 2025. Including loans secured against homes for other purposes, lending over those nine months totaled NIS 93.3 billion.
