Israel Urges Norway to Halt Auction of Torah Parchment Desecrated During Holocaust

Israel’s Foreign Ministry called on the Norwegian government to halt an auction in Oslo offering a fragment of Torah parchment. According to the ministry’s account, German SS personnel looted and desecrated the parchment during the Holocaust, using it as wrapping paper. The appeal concerns a sale at Valkyrie Historical Auctions. The ministry also criticized what it described as Norway’s expected withdrawal of support for student visits to Nazi extermination camps.
