Justice Ministry Discloses NIS 1.85 Million Repayment Order Over Cancer Donations

The Justice Ministry disclosed on October 18 that the Haifa District Court had ordered seven officials of Keren L’Chaim and Keren L’Chaim L’Yeladim V’Noar to repay NIS 1.85 million personally. The October 8 ruling concerned money from Helen Hatab’s estate that was intended to support children and teenagers with cancer but was used outside its approved purpose. Judge Ron Sokol rejected the argument that other charitable work justified the spending, while deducting NIS 41,621 for recognized renovations at a Hadera hostel for at-risk girls. The officials must also pay NIS 20,000 in legal costs.
