Court Extends Detention of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa’ar and His Wife Until Thursday

A court on Monday extended the detention of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa’ar and his wife, Meital Sa’ar, until Thursday, October 22. The mayor’s extension was agreed by the parties, with conditional release expected on Thursday under terms still to be determined by the court. Police say their investigation into suspected bribery and manipulation of tenders continues and that new evidence has strengthened the suspicions. The mayor denies the allegations, and his lawyer, Micha Fettman, disputed the police assessment and said he does not expect the case to lead to an indictment.
