Israel Expands Import Exemptions for Connected Appliances and Car Multimedia Systems

An amendment signed last week by Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi and reported on Monday expands exemptions from ministry approval for imports of connected appliances. The changes cover 13 product categories bearing CE marking, including refrigerators, washing machines and coffee machines with wireless functions. A separate exemption allows personal imports of up to five car multimedia or screen-mirroring devices per shipment without CE marking; commercial imports of those devices still require conformity approval. The amendment takes effect upon publication in Reshumot, Israel's official gazette, and leaves other applicable import requirements in place.
