Israeli Embassy Protests Japan’s Reception of Jibril Rajoub

Israel’s embassy in Japan protested on October 20 against the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s reception of Jibril Rajoub the previous day. The embassy accused him of repeatedly justifying violence, including murder, and making antisemitic statements about Jews. It warned that an official reception could legitimize his conduct and conflict with the two countries’ shared commitment to human dignity. Japan’s ministry confirmed that State Minister Yasutaka Nakasone received Rajoub, the Palestinian Olympic and football bodies’ president and Fatah Central Committee secretary general. The ministry said they discussed Palestinian affairs, bilateral relations and sports exchanges, with Nakasone reaffirming support for a two-state solution.
