Hapoel Haifa defeated Ironi Ashkelon 94–77 at home on Tuesday evening, taking its second victory in two games at the start of the Liga Leumit basketball season. Haifa trailed 61–60 after three quarters but outscored Ashkelon 34–16 in the final period, opening that quarter with 10 unanswered points to lead 70–61 with seven minutes remaining. Robert Allen led Haifa with 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Amit Alon added 19 points, making four of his six three-point attempts. Lior Berman scored 18 points for Ashkelon.
