Israel Urges FIDE to Relocate Malaysia Chess Championship Over Israeli Exclusion

Israel urged FIDE on Wednesday to relocate its World Amateur Chess Championships from Malaysia, saying Israeli players were being excluded. The Israeli Foreign Ministry called for Malaysia to lose its hosting rights and argued that international competition must provide equal access to Israeli participants. FIDE’s invitation places the tournament in Klang, Selangor, with arrival on November 4 and departure on November 13. The federation invites all member federations and eligible players, with competitions for men and women rated below 2300. Israel described the exclusion as discrimination.
