Araghchi Accuses Macron of Contradicting His Earlier Iran Nuclear Position

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused French President Emmanuel Macron on October 22 of changing his position on Iran’s nuclear program. Araghchi contrasted Macron’s 2018 support for keeping the nuclear agreement with his October 21 remarks opposing all Iranian nuclear activity. In that earlier address to the U.S. Congress, Macron also said Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons and called for a wider agreement covering missiles and Iran’s regional military role. In his latest remarks, Macron called for further diplomatic efforts as Israeli and U.S. elections approached.
