Senior Israeli Official Says Iran Is Accelerating Nuclear Weaponization Work

An unnamed senior Israeli political official said Iran was accelerating efforts to build a nuclear weapon, including work to complete the weaponization component that had held up its program. The official said Israel and the United States were aware of those efforts and would not permit that progress. According to the official, military action remained an option, with its timing determined by operational needs rather than election calendars in Israel or the United States. The assessment was reported without identifying the official or providing technical evidence or a completion date.
