Zilbertal Named to Lead Submarine Inquiry After Grunis Steps Down

Supreme Court President Isaac Amit appointed retired justice Zvi Zilbertal on Sunday to head the state commission investigating Israel's submarine and naval-vessel procurement. Zilbertal replaces retired Supreme Court president Asher Grunis, who asked to step down because medical circumstances would prevent him from attending hearings over the coming months. Grunis said postponing those hearings would harm the commission's work. Amit also appointed Ruth Lorch, the former president of the Central-Lod District Court, as a commission member. Zilbertal was already serving on the commission.
