First Families Move Into Shalem Near Elon Moreh

The first families in Shalem’s founding group moved into homes near Elon Moreh in northern Samaria on Monday morning. Moving trucks brought their belongings to the site, where the families entered structures prepared for them. Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan visited to welcome the new residents. Shalem is the ninth community in the council’s program to establish 19 communities, an initiative involving the council, Amana and the Settlement Division. A formal welcoming ceremony was planned for later on Monday; it had not yet taken place when the arrivals were reported.
