EIS Israel Stock Fund Recovers After Initial Post-Exit-Poll Drop
Published
The U.S.-traded EIS Israel equity fund recovered from an initial decline after Israel’s election exit polls on Tuesday night, October 27. The fund briefly fell about 0.8% in after-hours trading before returning to almost unchanged, following a gain of approximately 1.8% during the regular session. The reported trading snapshots put EIS at $123.39 at 22:04 Israel time and $124.34 at 22:10. Those readings describe the immediate period after the polls, rather than a confirmed direction for the following trading day. The fund’s early decline and subsequent recovery occurred while Israel’s own stock exchange was closed for election day. BlackRock’s EIS fund follows the MSCI Israel Capped Investable Market index. Its holdings included Teva, Bank Leumi, Bank Hapoalim, Elbit Systems and Tower in the reported snapshot. Financial companies represented about 36% of its portfolio. The same account put the fund’s assets at approximately $884 million. Another U.S.-traded Israel fund, ISRA, had gained approximately 1.2% during regular trading and was about 0.35% higher at 22:04. That after-hours reading involved only five units traded. The thin activity provided a limited snapshot ahead of the Tel Aviv exchange’s next session, scheduled for Wednesday morning, October 28.
