Yanki Quint to Become NewMed Energy Chairman on November 1

Yaakov (Yanki) Quint will become chairman of NewMed Energy on November 1, following an appointment disclosed on October 28. The 53-year-old former director of the Israel Land Authority will join the leadership of the gas partnership controlled by Yitzhak Tshuva’s Delek Group. Quint said NewMed “contributes enormously to Israel’s energy sector and economy.” He said he would work with the board and professional management to advance the partnership’s activities, develop the potential of its assets and create value for shareholders. NewMed holds approximately 45% of Leviathan, Israel’s largest gas reservoir, and also has an interest in the Aphrodite reservoir off Cyprus. The appointment follows changes at the top of the partnership earlier this year. Niv Sarna became chairman in June before moving to the chief executive position in August, replacing Yossi Abu. Quint’s appointment fills the chairmanship after that transition, with his term scheduled to begin on November 1. Quint headed the Israel Land Authority from 2020 to 2025, after serving as director of the Government Companies Authority from 2017 to 2020. His professional background also includes an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in law and economics from Bar-Ilan University. Those public-sector management roles precede his move to NewMed’s board leadership.
