Asphalt Work Begins on Third Bridge Linking Ashkelon’s Wine City Neighborhood
Asphalt laying has begun on the third bridge connecting Ashkelon’s Wine City neighborhood to the city’s main road network, according to details published on November 4. The paving follows construction already underway on the project; the latest report says asphalt work began in recent days. Completion remains planned for February 2028. The connection is approximately half a kilometer long and will link the neighborhood with the Ariel Sharon–Yitzhak Shamir road corridor. Its design includes two traffic lanes in each direction, dedicated bicycle paths and pedestrian sidewalks. Landscaping is being carried out alongside the infrastructure works. Ashkelon Municipality is advancing the project through the Ashkelon Economic Company. Mayor Tomer Glam described the third bridge’s progress as part of a wider effort to connect the neighborhood with other parts of Ashkelon. He said, “The three bridges together will create a wider, more accessible network of connections.” The Amphora Bridge has already been completed and opened, while the Kadesh Bridge remains under construction. The newly reported paving milestone marks progress toward that timetable, rather than the opening of an additional entrance. The three bridge projects form the municipality’s broader plan to improve links between the expanding neighborhood, the main roads and other city districts.
