Schneider Unveils Pediatric Innovation Fund Targeting $50 Million

Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel has unveiled SCVC, a venture capital fund seeking $50 million for children’s health technologies. The hospital, part of Clalit, said it had reviewed more than 170 ventures and made three investments during the eight months since the fund was established. The fund combines Schneider’s clinical expertise with Clalit’s longitudinal medical information and artificial intelligence capabilities. It evaluates technologies in clinical settings before investing, then helps companies develop products, refine business models and reach markets. Managing partner Ronen Gadot said: “The advantage of SCVC is the direct connection between the investment world and medicine.” The hospital identified treatment prediction, real-time clinical insights and non-invasive early diagnosis among its areas of interest. Its pediatric approach also includes applying longevity technologies to children. Schneider said many medicines and technologies used in pediatrics were developed for adults, while the fund aims to encourage development specifically for children. Gadot said part of the fund’s profits would return to Schneider for research, innovation and pediatric care. The hospital said additional investments were in progress and that it was seeking more investors and partners.
