Defense Ministry Says About 3,300 Mines Destroyed Near Ein Zivan in 2026

Israel's Defense Ministry said on November 5 that its Mine and Unexploded Ordnance Clearance Authority had destroyed about 3,300 mines near Kibbutz Ein Zivan in the Golan Heights during 2026. The ministry released the figure as clearance of minefields in the Golan continues. The authority works throughout the year on minefields and unexploded ordnance across Israel. Describing the nationwide results, the ministry said the authority had “cleared more than 6,700 dunams suspected of containing mines and unexploded ordnance across Israel” over the past year. That total includes thousands of dunams in the Golan Heights. The work is part of a multiyear program intended to release land suspected of contamination for civilian uses. The ministry listed agriculture, commerce, industry and housing among those uses. The nationwide land-clearance figure covers the past year, while the separate count of approximately 3,300 mines concerns work near Ein Zivan during 2026. In an earlier notice issued on November 4, the ministry announced mine and unexploded-ordnance clearance near Ein Zivan on November 4 and 5, between 10:00 and 11:00. It said the work would produce explosion sounds and smoke. That notice set out the local operating schedule; the new disclosure gives the broader clearance results.
