Gan Yavne Council Reinforces Resident Support as Storm-Related Power Cuts Continue

Gan Yavne Local Council reinforced its municipal hotline and contacted older residents as repeated power interruptions continued following storm damage to the electricity network. In an update after Shabbat on November 7, council head Dror Aharon said the interruptions had begun the previous evening and that the council remained in contact with Israel Electric Corporation over the repairs. The electricity company said overnight weather had damaged infrastructure and torn several electricity wires. It said crews worked through the night with additional personnel and specialized equipment, while teams from other operating areas joined the repair effort in the morning. Access difficulties at some damaged locations complicated the work and delayed repairs, according to the company. Aharon said the council was maintaining continuous contact with senior electricity-company officials, including its chief executive and regional managers. He said it was pressing for repairs to be accelerated and for improvements to the system for the future. The update concerned the continuing disruption and the council's response, rather than a completed restoration of service. Municipal hotline staff and the on-call welfare worker contacted older residents and remained available to assist, the council said. It also said the hotline was operating with reinforced staffing and asked residents who needed assistance to contact it. The update gave no deadline for restoring electricity.
