Israel Meteorological Service Updates Flood, Thunderstorm and Dangerous-Sea Warnings
The Israel Meteorological Service issued updated warnings on Friday evening, November 6, for flooding, thunderstorms and dangerous swimming conditions. The alerts cover northern and central Israel, parts of the northern Negev and the Mediterranean coast, with several remaining in force until Saturday night. All times in the warnings are Israel local time. An orange flooding warning covers the Carmel, the northern coast, the central and southern coast, and the Judean Foothills from 22:00 Friday until 22:00 Saturday, November 7. A separate yellow flash-flood warning covers the northern Judean Desert and Dead Sea area from 20:14 Friday through 22:00 Saturday. The yellow thunderstorm warning applies to northern and central Israel, the Mediterranean Sea and the northern Negev from 22:00 Friday until 02:00 Saturday. The service described isolated thunderstorms moving east-northeast at 20 kilometers per hour. It noted that hazardous conditions could persist after the alert expires and said, "If needed, the warning will be extended." The orange warning for dangerous swimming conditions in the Mediterranean runs from 22:00 Friday through 22:00 Saturday. Significant wave heights are listed at 120 to 190 centimeters and increasing. The flooding record also retains an earlier orange early warning issued on November 5, distinguishing that advance notice from Friday evening's updated alert.
