Actor and Musician Bar Belfer Dies at 37
Israeli actor, musician and radio broadcaster Bar Belfer has died at the age of 37, her family announced on Sunday, November 8. She became known for playing Tamar in the 2006 film Someone to Run With, an adaptation of David Grossman’s novel directed by Oded Davidoff. Her family said: “Our beloved is gone, and the song of her life stopped halfway.” Shaham, the Israeli actors’ organization, said Belfer was a member and expressed shock and sorrow at her sudden death. The organization recalled her portrayal of Tamar and her subsequent work in acting, singing and other creative projects. Belfer grew up in Ramat Hasharon and attended the music program at Alon High School. She was 17 when she starred in Someone to Run With, portraying a young musician looking for her brother in Jerusalem. The performance earned her an Ophir Award nomination. Her later screen work included Ram Nehari’s film Don’t Forget Me and the Kan 11 series Malach Mashchit, in which she played Shifi. Alongside acting, Belfer pursued music and broadcasting. During her military service she worked as a reporter and editor on Army Radio’s foreign-news desk. She studied at the Rimon music school and broadcast on Kan Tarbut in recent years. Her funeral is scheduled for Monday, November 9, at 11 a.m. at the Menucha Nechona cemetery in Kfar Saba.
