My latest report from Qusra, where Israeli settlers continue to besiege 3 Palestinian homes, 1 of which is owned by a US citizen. The IDF has so far failed to remove the settlers & is now deploying a battalion. We tried to reach the residents, but Israeli soldiers stopped us. W/ @zeenasaifi & @cyrilthps
The Israeli military is now reversing course, saying in a statement that "the soldiers were instructed that the Qusra residents will remain in their homes." We're still waiting to see if that happens on the ground
More than a dozen families in Qusra have been ordered out of their homes by Israeli soldiers, which are temporarily using them as military outposts. The IDF says this is part of an operation to rout the settlers from the area. But for now at least, Palestinians paying the price.
Israeli soldiers showed up to these homes this morning and ordered Palestinians to evacuate. The stated reason: so they can operate against the settlers in the area. Ultimately, the families moved into 1 of the 3 homes but are not leaving the hilltop. Monitoring -
Israeli security forces showed up in Qusra today to dismantle the illegal outpost & kick out the settlers. Settler reinforcements arrived & clashes ensued. As of now, Israeli forces have withdrawn & the settlers remain.
