Iran Rapidly Rebuilds Ballistic Missile Arsenal, Stunning Israeli Officials

IDF and Mossad officials were surprised by Iran's rapid ballistic-missile recovery four months after the main war ended, according to a new Israeli damage assessment. Iran's estimated stockpile rose from about 1,300 missiles in June 2025 to 2,500 by February 2026, while Israel struck about 2,600 Iranian targets during the 2026 war. Officials assess that production of 100 to 300 missiles a month could restore prewar stockpile levels by early to mid-2027. The IDF said it substantially damaged Iran's capabilities, continually updates its assessments and remains prepared, while declining to publish precise rehabilitation rates that could expose intelligence sources and methods.
