Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing’s cooperation with Tehran complies with international law and should not be interfered with or disrupted. He said China was monitoring developments and would take necessary measures to protect its rights and interests, while opposing unilateral sanctions lacking a UN Security Council mandate. The U.S. sanctions announced Monday target 60 individuals, entities and vessels tied to Iran’s economic lifeline. Lin argued that maximum pressure intensifies conflict and disrupts the global economic order, and called for de-escalation and renewed dialogue.
