Pezeshkian Says Iran Will Reciprocate if U.S. Returns to June Deal

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek that Tehran would immediately reciprocate if the United States returned to its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum. He said the agreement was reached on June 18 after roughly three months of mediation by Pakistan and Qatar. Pezeshkian alleged U.S. compliance lasted less than two weeks and said Iran responded proportionately to later violations. He also proposed an SCO bank, an export-insurance and investment union, an energy consortium and a strategic security-studies center.
